SAN ANGELO, TX — The Lake View Chiefs will hit the road Friday for a third straight week, this time with a Hill Country trip to Burnet.
Lake View has been unable to build off its 55-42 win over Lamesa on Sept. 13 that ended an 11-game losing streak.
The Chiefs have struggled since in losses to Lubbock High (31-13) and last week against Levelland (44-26).
On the bright side, Lake View’s offense continues to remain a threat to keep the Chiefs in games. Lake View has scored at least 26 points in all but one game this year.
Running back Sammy Ramirez had his second consecutive 100-yard game last week with 14 carries for 148 yards and a TD.
Wide receiver Braylon White also delivered with three catches for 73 yards and two TDs.
Sophomore quarterback Chris Alvizo, who had a red-hot start with 690 passing yards his first two starts, has met more resistance the last two weeks.
He was 16-of-28 passing against Levelland with three TD passes, but he was limited to 141 yards and was intercepted twice.
Lake View’s defense, despite interceptions by DJ Munoz and Connor Williams, was again unable to get enough stops for its offense. The Chiefs are allowing 37 points per game.
Burnet is 3-2 after last week’s 23-17 win over Gatesville. The Bulldogs went 8-4 last year, which was their most wins in a season since 2014.
This is the first-ever meeting on the football field between Lake View and Burnet.
Lake View will return home next week to play Brownfield in its final nondistrict game.
