SWEETWATER, TX — The Wall Hawks erased an early 15-point deficit to fly past Sweetwater for a 42-21 win Friday at the Mustang Bowl in Sweetwater.
Wall trailed 21-6 in the first half and 21-12 at halftime before outscoring Sweetwater 30-0 in the second half.
It was the biggest offensive output of the season for the Hawks, who are ranked No. 9 in the state in Class 3A Division II.
Junior quarterback Landon York had his finest game yet operating Wall's spread offense. He threw for 321 yards and two touchdowns on 21-of-34 passing.
Reid Robertson had nine catches for 152 yards and a TD, while Evan Boehle had three catches for 90 yards. Brady Neal had five catches for 44 yards and a TD.
Thomas Leanos had 18 carries for 66 yards to lead the Hawks' rushing attack.
Caleb Braden led Wall's defense with 10 tackles and an interception. Overall, the Hawks forced three turnovers and had seven tackles for loss and two sacks.
Wall (4-1) earned its third straight win over a school from a larger classification. The Hawks will play again next week when they host Idalou.
Sweetwater (2-3) will have a bye next week before hosting San Angelo TLCA in its District 3-3A Division I opener Oct. 11.
