SAN ANGELO, TX — The Lake View Chiefs saw a close game at halftime quickly get away in the second half in a 44-26 loss on the road to Levelland on Friday.
Lake View overcame a 16-0 deficit to get within 16-12 at halftime, and the Chiefs received the opening kickoff of the second half, but the momentum soon shifted to Levelland.
The Lobos scored three touchdowns to take a 37-12 lead midway through the fourth quarter.
Lake View scored twice to get as close as 37-26 before Levelland added another TD in the final minute.
The Chiefs fell to 1-4, but their offense has been a bright spot with at least 26 points in four of their five games.
Lake View quarterback Chris Alvizo threw for 141 yards and three TDs on 16-of-28 passing with two interceptions.
Braylon White had three catches for 73 yards and two TDs. Cristian Esparza also had a TD catch.
Sammy Ramirez had his second consecutive 100-yard game with 14 carries for 148 yards and a TD.
The Chiefs' defense had interceptions by DJ Munoz and Connor Williams.
Lake View will travel to the Hill Country next week to play Burnet.
Levelland improved to 3-2 and will host Snyder next week.
