Miles Wins 2024 Bronte Showdown Volleyball Tournament

BRONTE, TX — The Miles Lady Bulldogs overcame a field with four state-ranked teams to bring home the title from the Bronte Showdown on Saturday.

Miles defeated No. 3 Benjamin in the quarterfinals, No. 9 Bronte in the semifinals and Water Valley in the final.

Kendyl Riddle was named tournament MVP for the Lady Bulldogs. Corabella Schwertner and Rylee Vahlenkemp were named to the all-tournament team.

Brooke Woods and Jayden Gomez were named to the all-tournament team for Water Valley, which defeated Coahoma in the quarterfinals and Graford, ranked No. 6 in Class 2A, in the semifinals.

Bronte defeated Graford in the third-place match. Emalyn Bohensky and Kylie Reno were named to the all-tournament team for Bronte.

Other all-tournament players included Kamryn Glover and Kaylee Rogers from Graford, Pollina Ham from Benjamin, and Collyn Daniels from Veribest.

The Bronte Showdown has been one of the state's best small-school volleyball tournaments for years, and it continues to draw some of the top teams in 1A and 2A each season.
