No. 9 San Angelo Central Defends Nita Vannoy Tournament Title

 

SAN ANGELO, TX — The No. 9-ranked San Angelo Central volleyball team remained undefeated and defended its Nita Vannoy Tournament title.

The Lady Cats defeated Andrews 25-16, 25-17 on Saturday in a rematch of last year’s Gold Division final to go back-to-back at their home tournament.

Central improved its record to 12-0 and has yet to drop a set this season.

Central’s junior varsity won the Silver Division with a win over Fort Stockton in the final, completing an impressive accomplishment for the program.

The Sonora Lady Broncos bounced back from a tough day Friday by winning the Bronze Division championship Saturday.

Sonora, ranked No. 3 in the state in Class 2A, dropped matches to Andrews and Wall on Friday to finish in third place in the pool.

The Lady Broncos won all three of their matches Saturday, beating Pecos, Sterling City and Bronte, which is ranked No. 8 in 1A.

Sonora improved to 12-2.

Forsan defeated Miles in the final of the Bronze Challenger Division.
