SAN ANGELO, TX — Here are our top 10 wide receivers to watch in the upcoming 2024 high school football season in West Texas:
Cooper Ellison, Miles, Sr.
Ellison racked up more catches (66), more receiving yards (1,091) and more TDs (17) than any receiver in the Concho Valley last fall. He has helped the Bulldogs win two 7-on-7 state titles, and they reached the quarterfinals of the 7-on-7 state tournament over the summer. The Bulldogs' top target should be a huge benefit as Miles works in a new starting quarterback in sophomore Liam Yancy. Senior Dillon Medina also returns after posting 437 receiving yards and 4 TDs last year.

Colton Hill, San Angelo Central, Jr.
Hill had an impressive sophomore campaign with 57 catches for 854 yards and 4 TDs to earn second-team all-District 2-6A honors. With quarterback Christian English returning after throwing for nearly 2,600 yards last year, Hill is poised for another big season. The 6-foot-2, 175-pound wideout is the younger brother of former Bobcats' standouts Tyler and Weston Hill.
Kam Aguero, Sonora, Sr.
Aguero was the Broncos' big-play threat in their passing game last year with 35 catches for 621 yards and 9 TDs. The first-team all-district receiver was also a state qualifier during track season in the 400-meter run. He should be an even bigger part of Sonora's offensive plans this fall.
Hutton Rogers, Richland Springs, Sr.
Rogers was an outstanding two-way player for the Coyotes last fall, garnering first-team all-state recognition as a wide receiver and first-team all-region honors as a cornerback. After helping Richland Springs reach the state semifinals last year, Rogers will try to help the Coyotes claim state title No. 10 this season.
Briggs Jones, Wall, Sr.
Jones was a first-team all-district running back and cornerback last year, but with the Hawks moving to a spread offense this season, Jones will shift over to receiver. He's a tremendous athlete who qualified for the state track meet last year in three events. Kellan Oliver, a first-team all-district wide receiver last year, also returns after catching 17 passes for 273 yards and 4 TDs.
Hayden Bowlin, Forsan, Jr.
Bowlin was a first-team all-district pick at wide receiver and cornerback. A state qualifier in the 100-meter dash, he possesses serious big-play ability, as evidenced by a nearly 22-yard per catch average last year. He turned 29 catches into 631 yards and 9 TDs.
Michael Daniels, Ozona, Sr.
Daniels was a dependable target for the Lions last season, hauling in 37 catches for 506 yards and 5 TDs. He was also an anchor on defense with 85 tackles and 2 interceptions as a strong safety. He should be one of Ozona's biggest playmakers again this fall.
Omrie Johnson, Reagan County, Jr.
Johnson showed promise last year as a sophomore when he had 26 catches for 455 yards and 4 TDs. He and classmate Nick Franklin (24 catches, 399 yards, 5 TDs) give returning Owls quarterback Kason Brown some reliable options in the passing game.
Francisco Ramirez, San Angelo Lake View, Sr.
Ramirez appears ready to step into one of the Chiefs' top playmaking roles. He's their most productive receiver and kick returner coming back from last year, and he's also one of their top returning tacklers on defense. With Austin Perez returning at quarterback, the Chiefs could have an improved passing game.
*Our last receiving spot will go to the top tight ends in our area — Mason senior Matthew Norman, Ozona senior Owen Jones, and Robert Lee junior Wyatt Bosworth.
TIGHT ENDS
Matthew Norman, Mason, Sr.
Norman was a first-team all-district selection at tight end and defensive lineman for the Punchers last year. He's part of a Mason offense that returns eight starters, including all five offensive linemen, and he'll be counted on to help pave the way again for the Punchers' rushing attack.
Owen Jones, Sonora, Sr.
Jones was a difference maker for Sonora last year, earning first-team all-district honors at tight end/H back and defensive end. He only had 4 catches for 68 yards and a TD on offense, but his calling card was providing strong blocking. On defense, he had 47 tackles and 2 tackles for loss.
Wyatt Bosworth, Robert Lee, Jr.
Bosworth was a second-team all-region tight end for the Steers. He was described as a "great blocker" by head coach Lee McCown. Bosworth didn't get many opportunities in the passing game, but he turned 13 catches into 203 yards and 5 TDs.
