Current, Former Angelo State Athletes to Compete in Olympics

 

SAN ANGELO, TX — Angelo State University's Fatoumata Kabo and former ASU star Daisy Osakue will compete in the Paris 2024 Summer Olympics for their home country of Italy in August.
 
Kabo, a studio art major from Carpenedolo, Italy, will run in the 4x400-meter relay.

Osakue, who is from Turin, Italy, and graduated from ASU with a degree in communications, returns to the world stage in the discus, where she placed 12th at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
 
Kabo was a two-time NCAA Division II Outdoor National Champion this past season, winning the 400-meter hurdles (57.39) while also helping the Belles to a 4x400-meter relay title with a time of 3:32.88, setting a new program record.
 
Competing for the Rambelles from 2017-2021, Osakue holds the top 10 all-time marks in the discus for ASU. She won two national titles in the discus during her time and was an eight-time All-American in the discus and shot put.

During the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, Osakue reached the finals with a throw of 63.66m (208-10), tying the Italy national record at the time.
 
Osakue will begin the qualifying round of the discus Aug. 2, while Kabo will run in the opening round of the 4x400-meter relay Aug. 9.
