SAN ANGELO, TX — A Concho Valley Catfishing Tournament will take place at Twin Buttes from 7 p.m. on June 14 to 11 a.m. on June 15.
This day-and-night event, restricted to rod and reel fishing, will be held at the Twin Buttes Main Boat Ramp (North Pool) in San Angelo.
Registration and Fees:
Participants must check-in online and pay before 7 p.m. on June 14. Tokens for the tournament need to be picked up at the ramp by 9 p.m. The entry fee is $100 per team, with an optional $25 Big Fish Side Pot and a $10 annual membership fee. Special Junior Angler Side Pot registration is $10 per junior angler.
Tournament Structure:
Each team can consist of up to four anglers, with an additional fee of $50 each for the third and fourth members. These additional fees will contribute directly to the Junior Angler Pot. Teams will compete for the heaviest five fish bags, with a payout structure of 60% for first place, 25% for second, and 15% for third. The Big Fish Side Pot will have a 100% payout.
Rules and Regulations:
- Only live fish are eligible for weigh-in.
- Teams may fish with a maximum of eight rods at any given time.
- All fish must be alive and meet the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) size limits.
- Participants must maintain possession of their fish in a live well (ice chest with aerator, etc.) throughout the tournament.
- Fishing is restricted to within 50 yards of a marina gas pump and competitors’ boats. Land fishing teammates must remain within 50 feet of each other.
Weigh-In and Awards:
The weigh-in will take place at 11:30 a.m. on June 15. Out-of-town teams must pay online before 7 p.m. and pick up their tokens by 9 p.m.
Membership and Eligibility:
- Memberships are $10 and valid for the 2024 season, with six tournaments remaining.
- Only paid team members or children under 17 accompanied by an adult can be on the boat.
- Junior anglers must have a paid adult member present.
