AUSTIN, TX — More good news out of Angelo State University on Tuesday, June 4, as one of the Belles' tennis stars, Letizia Corsini, was recently named an Academic All-American. The College Sports Communicators (CSC) announced that Corsini made the list as a Second Team All-American.
The Lone Star Conference's Tennis Player of the Year adds this most recent accolade to an ever-growing list. Corsini was also named to the LSC's First Team in Singles. She joins a select group as only one other player in the Lone Star Conference made the Academic All-American list.
Corsini was the anchor for the Belles this season. She finished with a 22-1 overall record in Singles this year and went 22-2 in Doubles play with her partner Ayda Guler. During the regular season, she went undefeated in Singles and took down six other nationally-ranked Singles players in the process. Corsini also led the Rambelles to the Division II Women's Championships for the first time in program history.
According to Angelo State University, Corsini is the 57th athlete in the school's history to earn Academic All-American status and the first Belles' tennis player to receive the honor.
