ABILENE, TX — The Lake View Chiefs are half a game away from a Bi-District Championship. After the Chiefs’ baseball team had to move their playoff series against Mineral Wells on Friday, May 3, Lake View battled in a close matchup with Mineral Wells to take Game 1 before leading in Game 2 until inclement weather stopped the series short.
- Game 1 - Lake View 2 Mineral Wells 0
- Game 2 - (Delayed) Lake View 3 Mineral Wells 0 - Top of the 5th Inning
The Chiefs’ defense showed up on Saturday to win a close battle in Game 1 at Abilene Cooper High School. The offense did just enough to squeak out a victory, but Lake View wasn’t done there. In Game 2, The Chiefs scored two runs early before loading the bases in the top of the 5th inning, threatening to break the game open. A walk made the score 3-0 before thunder and lightning rolled in, canceling the contest.
The Chiefs will resume action on Monday, May 6, back at Abilene Cooper High School in Abilene at 4:30 p.m. The game remains in the top of the 5th inning. If the Chiefs can close out Mineral Wells in the final three innings, Lake View will claim a Bi-District Championship. If, somehow, Mineral Wells battles back to beat the Chiefs, Game 3 will follow immediately after Game 2.
