Yes, some athletes in the Concho Valley are returning with gold. Eldorado's Logan Prater jumped out of her mind in Austin and is coming home with two first place medals in the Long Jump and Triple Jump. Prater will be joining Tarleton State Univeristy's Track and Field team.
Prater isn't the only female athlete returning with gold as Menard's Danni Ruiz also won the 800 and 400 meter runs with times of 2:12.44 and 57.87 respectively.
The Bronte girl's team had a great showing against the best of the best with Emily Jackson earning first place in the 100 meter hurdles, third in the Long Jump, fourth in High Jump, and fifth in the 300 meter hurdles. Natalie Immel of Bronte placed second in the Pole Vault and is bringing home silver and Emily Bohensky is bringing home bronze from the Triple Jump and placed fifth in the High Jump.
As a team, the Bronte girl's tied for 5th overall at State, tying Earth Springlake and Tilden McMullen County with 29 points.
On the Boys' side, Robert Lee's Aden Burns won gold in Shot Put with a throw of 50'2.75".
Blackwell's Karter Cummings brings back a bronze medal after running a 49.48 in the 400 meter run.
After winning State Golf, the Sonora Broncos weren't done as their 4x400 team placed second at the State Track Meet. The Mason Puncher's 4x200 team is also bringing home a silver medal with a time of 1:28.72.
Individually, Sonora's Kasey Lux placed third in the 300 hurdles and Sterling CIty's River Kinsey earned a bronze medal in the Long Jump.
For the girls, Junction's Mattie Strickland earned a silver medal in the Pole Vault.
Ozona's Kelyn Gass, along with the relay teams of Mia Davidson, Jaylynn Tijerina Brylee Gutierrez, Faith Quiroz, and Ysa Esparza were hard at work.
Miles freshman Chloe Becker ended up sixth in the 200 with a time of 25.65.
The Wall Hawks, led by Briggs Jones, also put on a show. Jones earned a silver medal in the Triple Jump, placed sixth in the Long Jump, and on the 4x200 team with teammates Hagynn Barbee, Ruben Rivas, and Evan Boehle, placed 3rd earning bronze.
