SAN ANGELO, TX—Angelo State Athletics hosted its annual Holland Sports Banquet to honor the best student-athletes on campus. 14 students received awards in their respective sports, as voted on by their teammates.
Each Holland’s Award winner exemplifies what it means to be an ASU Student-athlete in competition, in the classroom, and in the community. Here is the full list of winners at last night’s banquet.

- Maricia Spence - Women’s Track and Field
- Jordan McKinney - Football
- Avery Durham - Tennis
- Keilei Garcia - Softball
- Lacey Stevens - Golf
- Katelin Heise - Soccer
- Evelyn Torres - Volleyball
These were not the only student-athletes honored by Angelo State on Tuesday night. ASU also recognised 118 student-athletes and trainers were named to the 2024 Athletic Academic Honor Roll. To be selected, student-athletes must have at least a 3.2 GPA, must be a sophomore in athletic and academic standing, and have completed two semesters at ASU.
The Athletic Academic Excellence Award, a distinction reserved for the student-athlete with the highest cumulative GPA, was also presented to one male and one female. These exceptional individuals met the following criteria: maintaining a 3.25 GPA, being a junior or senior athletically, attending ASU for a minimum of two semesters, and exhausting one year of eligibility. The male recipient was Rance Rosas (baseball), and the female recipient was Laura Klimova (women's golf).
The Belles Softball team won Angelo State’s Golden Horn Award. The Golden Horn is awarded to the team for outstanding work in the community and demonstrates athletic success. The Belles compiled 817 hours of community service throughout the academic year and had an average GPA of 3.52.
Rams Baseball’s Jacob Guerrero won ASU’s male Athlete of the Year, while Belles Track and Field’s Maricia Spence took home female Athlete of the Year honors.
