SAN ANGELO, TX — The Angelo State Rams Baseball team split, 2-2, a Lone Star Conference series against St. Edward’s over the weekend. The Rams dropped Game 1 in the doubleheader on Friday before they bounced back to even the series in Game 2. Angelo State won Game 3 on Saturday before the Rams fell 5-7 in the series finale on Sunday.
Angelo State’s assistant coach Adam Foster took Coach Brooks’s place on the podium in this week’s press conference to discuss the Rams’ performance over the weekend and what he expects from his squad against WT this weekend.

The Rams again flashed brilliance in the series against St. Edward’s. After a slow start in Game 1, ASU bounced back in a big way to claim a victory in Game 2. The Rams fell behind in Game 2 when the Hilltoppers put up a run in the 5th inning. The ever-resilient Rams bounced back. Kamden Kelton drove in an RBI before Ryder McDaniel brought two more home from a bunt. Braxton Pearson had an excellent outing on the mound to earn the victory.
Angelo State continued to have success in Game 3 on Saturday. Tripp Clark hit a two-run shot to propel the Rams to victory. In Game 4, errors and mental mistakes ultimately doomed ASU’s chances at a series win. Two defensive errors and a wild pitch gave way to a 4-2 deficit in the third inning. The Rams battled back but could never recover.
As the Rams approach the end of the regular season, every series matters if Angelo State wants to hoist another Conference Championship trophy in 2024. ASU hosts the LSC-leading West Texas A&M at Foster Field in San Angelo this weekend. The Rams currently sit in 3rd place in the LSC, two games behind WT and one behind LCU.
The Rams need a sweep and a little help from Eastern New Mexico against Lubbock Christian to win the regular-season title, but hope is still alive. With a sweep over WT, the Rams will take sole possession of second place and need ENMU to split with LCU for ASU to win the title.
