No. 18 ASU Tennis Closes Out Regular Season this Weekend

SAN ANGELO, TX — The No. 18 Angelo State Belles Tennis team closes out regular season play on the road this weekend with two matches against UT Tyler on Friday, April 19, and Dallas Baptist on Saturday, April 20.

The Belles come off a successful weekend a week ago, where they swept both Western New Mexico and UTPB, 7-0. Angelo State currently sports a 17-2 overall record and sits at 7-1 in LSC play.

At his weekly press conference at the Junell Center on Monday, Head Coach Jason Potthoff gave his thoughts on his team’s performance over the weekend and what he expects from UT Tyler and Dallas Baptist when the Belles hit the road. Watch the press conference below:

The Belles again lean on Angelo State’s top singles player, Letizia Corsini, this weekend. The No. 8 ITA women’s singles player is 17-0 headed into the matchup against UT Tyler. She can become the first undefeated regular-season player in program history if she claims victory in her two matches this weekend.

Avery Durham and Eva Schwartz lead the Belles in Doubles coming into these matchups. Last week, the ladies won 6-2 against WNMU and 6-4 against UTPB.

Angelo State must secure these two victories to keep pace with Midwestern State, who leads the Lone Star Conference this season. The Belles sit in a tie for second place with Cameron at 7-1. Angelo State handed Cameron their only conference loss this season and owns the tie-breaker.
