SAN ANGELO, TX — The No. 18 Angelo State Rams won three out of four games on their road trip over the weekend against Texas A&M International. The Rams dropped Game 1 last Friday before sweeping the doubleheader on Saturday and Game 4 on Sunday.

The Rams struggled to find the strike zone in Game 1, and those extra base runners led to runs for A&M International in Game 1. Angelo State lost 8-4. The Rams recovered in Game 2, winning that contest behind solid offense from Jacob Guerrero and a solid performance from Braxton Pearson on the mound.
In Game 3, Alezeah Gutierrez threw an absolute gem as he pitched a shutout in the Rams’ 5-0 victory. For his efforts, the Lone Star Conference announced on Monday that Gutierrez was the LSC Pitcher of the Week. He tossed a two-hit shutout on the road and took home the LSC’s top weekly pitching award. He compiled three strikeouts, walked two, and allowed zero runs over seven innings.

Finally, in Game 4, the Rams’ offense started fast with four runs in the 1st, one in the 2nd, and one run in the 3rd inning. The bats cooled after that as Angelo State struggled to score again until the 8th inning. A&M International chipped away at ASU’s lead throughout the contest but added two runs in the 6th and two in the 7th inning to pull within one run with two innings to go. Angelo State added an insurance run in the 8th inning to close out International and claim the road series victory.
The Rams (26-12, 24-12 LSC) return home to Foster Field this weekend for a 4-game Lone Star Conference series against Texas A&M Kingsville. Game 1 is scheduled for Friday, April 12. First pitch on Friday will be at 6:30 p.m.
