WALL, TX—The Annual Cotton Patch Relays were held at Wall High School on Wednesday, March 27. Several schools around the Concho Valley competed, including Wall, Central, Lake View, Ballinger, Eldorado, and Miles. The Wall Hawks had another dominating performance, winning the Men’s Varsity meet, while the Wall Lady Hawks and Central Lady Cats placed second and third on the Women’s side, respectively.

Men’s Varsity:

Despite strong winds all afternoon, Wall’s Briggs Jones won the 200-meter dash again. Wall also won the 4x100-meter relay. The Lake View Chiefs dominated the other two relays, winning the 4x200-meter relay (1:32.47) and the 4x400-meter relay (3:34.55).
On the Women’s side, Abilene High (50.07) edged out Wall (50.09) by .02 seconds in the 4x100-meter and by only .05 (Abilene - 1:47.66 Wall - 1:47.71) in the 4x200-meter. However, the Lady Hawks dominated the rest of the competition in the 4x400-meter relay (4:04.84) by almost nine seconds.

Overall, it was another successful competition out at Hawk Stadium. The Cotton Patch relays serve as a way for teams to work on some last-minute preparations before the district meets. District begins as soon as two weeks from now.
