SAN ANGELO, TX—The No. 11 Angelo State baseball team hosted Lubbock Christian for a four-game series at Foster Field in San Angelo over the weekend. The two teams traded blows back and forth and ended up tied 2-2. Angelo State took Games 1 and 3, while LCU won Games 2 and 4.
- Game 1 - Rams 3 Chaps 0
- Game 2 - Chaps 10 Rams 5
- Game 3 - Rams 10 Chaps 3
- Game 4 - Chaps 15 Rams 10
With the series split, the Rams move to 22-11 overall on the season and 21-11 in Lone Star Conference play. The Rams played well throughout this series, but stretches of shaky pitching from the Rams with LCU's high-octane offense caused Angelo State to fall in Games 2 and 4.
The Rams' Jacob Guerrero had an excellent outing in Game 4. He led the offense with four hits on five plate appearances, five RBIs, and two doubles on Sunday.
Austin Teel and Dax Dathe shone on the mound for Angelo State this weekend. In Game 1, Teel came into the game in relief with bases loaded in the top of the 4th inning with bases loaded. He used three pitches to get out of the inning before he finished the final four innings with only two hits and one walk allowed. He also struck out a season-high six batters in the process. Dathe was the star of Game 3. He pitched six and two-thirds innings while he only allowed two runs on five hits. He added 12 strikeouts in the contest.
Angelo State returns to action at home on Tuesday when the Rams host a non-conference game at Foster Field. The Rams play Wayland Baptist on March 26 before they take next weekend off for a bye week. First pitch on Tuesday is scheduled for 3 p.m.
