WALL, TX — The Wall Hawks and TLCA Eagles Baseball Teams squared off for a district matchup out in Wall on Wednesday. Despite starting hot, the Eagles' defense couldn’t contain an explosive Wall Hawks offense as the Hawks hammered TLCA in the first two innings. Wall swept the series 2-0 with a 20-2 victory.
TLCA took the Eagles’ only lead of the ball game in the top of the 1st inning. Two hits led to two runs on the board before the Hawks made it off the field. However, the Hawks’ offense came to play on Wednesday. In the bottom of the first, the Hawks batted through order twice before the inning ended. Wall scored 15 runs, which were highlighted by a 2-run shot by Caleb Braden and a 3-run home run by Luke Kemp. Wall led 15-2 headed to the top of the 2nd inning.
TLCA managed more hits throughout the rest of the contest but could never quite get the base runners around the diamond. Meanwhile, the Hawks added three more runs in the second and two more in the 3rd and 4th innings to claim a dominant 20-2 victory.
After the game, Wall’s Head Coach, Jeremy Gordon, gave his thoughts on his team’s performance against TLCA and where he felt his team is at through this part of the season. Check out the interview below:
Wall moves to 3-0 in the district so far this season with victories over Jim Ned and TLCA. The Hawks return to action against Westbrook this Friday, March 15, in Wall.
While the outcome isn’t what TLCA wanted out of this two-game series, the Eagles played a quality opponent that allowed them to gauge their strengths and weaknesses. The Eagles fell to 0-3 in the district on the season and still seek their first district win to get back on track.
