As previously reported, DeHoyos qualified for the state powerlifting competition this year after shattering records on her way to a Region 1 Division 1 Championship in Big Spring two weeks ago. She broke records including bench press total, deadlift total, squat total, and overall total pounds lifted with 965lbs.

DeHoyos represents Central High School well and has a real shot at claiming a state title this season. At the Regional Meet in Big Spring, Jaylen set a new Regional 1 Division 1 Championship record for the best deadlift with 375 pounds, in the bench press lift with 185 pounds and squat with 405 pounds. As icing on the cake, she was also awarded "Best Overall Lifter" at the Regional 1 Powerlifting meet.
