RICHARDSON, TX — The Lone Star Conference recently hit Angelo State Pitcher Alezeah Gutierrez with Pitcher of the Week honors for his performance over the weekend against Oklahoma Christian. He pitched in the Rams’ Game 2, 3-0 win.
The El Paso Montwood graduate tossed a one-hit shutout with 12 strikeouts in a low-scoring affair that Angelo State eventually won, 3-0. The left-handed pitcher did not allow a hit until the sixth inning. The 12 strikeouts he accumulated is a single-game high for the Lone Star Conference this season. Gutierrez leads the LSC in batting average allowed with a .204 average while he is on the mound.
Angelo State (17-8, 16-8 LSC) returns to action on Friday when the Rams hit the road to San Antonio to take on the St. Mary’s Rattlers (9-13, 7-13 LSC). First pitch on Friday, March 15, is scheduled for 6 p.m.
