SAN ANGELO— The Rams and the Rambelles lost to West Texas A&M on Saturday on a sports filled day for Angelo State University.
It seemed like everything was happening at ASU on Saturday as the basketball teams took on West Texas A&M and the baseball and softball teams. The defending National Champion Rams won both games of a double header against Cameron (8-2, 15-3) and the Rambelles secured two wins as well against Regis (5-4) and Texas A&M International (7-0).
Back to basketball, despite a double-digit point effort from Madeline Stephens and Sawyer Lloyd, the team fell to West Texas A&M, 68-55. The Buffs’ Karley Motschenbacher had a day with 22 points while three of her teammates turned in 10 or more points for the game.
The Belles entered halftime down, 31-28, but only had a six-point third quarter. They turned it on in the fourth, scoring 21 points, but couldn’t stop West Texas A&M, who had 37 points over the second half.

The Rams pushed it down to the wire and then some as they played the Buffs into overtime. Sadly, for San Angelo, the Rams fell even playing in extra time, to number one West Texas A&M, 94-90.
On the cool side of things, ASU’s Kevon Godwin hit 1,000 points and was the top scorer for the Rams.
In the first half, Buffs fans were probably sitting forward in their seats a little as the Rams went in at halftime up 47-37. A pretty crazy stat for the game, both the Rams and Buffs scored the same number of points in the second half, just flipped (ASU- 37, WTAM- 47), which pushed the game into overtime. There, West Texas A&M managed to add 10 to the scoreboard to ASU’s six.
