GAME 1 - Belles 10 Texas A&M International 1

Angelo State fell behind early when the Lady Dust Devils scored a run in the 3rd inning. The Belles responded with a four-run onslaught in the bottom of the 3rd. Laylonna Applin hit a 3-run shot off the left field foul pole. Singles by Averie Gunther, Keilei Garcia, and Tatiana Trotter loaded the bases for Erin Plunkett, who drew a walk to push across another run to make the score 4-1 in Angelo State’s favor.

The Rambelles would score six more runs in the bottom of the 4th inning. The highlight was a 2-run homerun from Tatiana Trotter to push the advantage to 10-1. The Belles run-ruled Texas A&M International in five innings to take their first game 10-1.

Averie Gunther picked up her first win for Angelo State on the season, pitching four innings and allowing three hits and one run.

GAME 2 - Belles 3 Regis 1

Early drama saw Cheyenne Floyd step up when she came in to pitch in relief with the bases loaded and no outs in the 3rd inning. The pressure didn’t phase her, however, as Floyd recorded three straight strikeouts to escape the inning. Regis struck first in the 4th inning when the Rangers hit a solo home run to give Regis the lead 1-0.

I took until the 6th inning, but the Rambelles finally jumped on the board after putting several zeros over much of the contest. Ashton Dirner and Layni Tanner hit singles to get on base. Averie Gunther came through again for ASU with a single to tie the score at 1-1. Tatiana Trotter gave the Rambelles the lead with a sac-RBI, and ASU took the lead 2-1. Angelo State would add one more run before closing out the contest for another win, 3-1.

Cheyenne Floyd picked up the win. Angelo State returns to action on Saturday afternoon against Regis at 1:30 p.m.
