Angelo State Track to Compete at Texas Tech this Weekend

 

LUBBOCK, TX — The Angelo State Track and Field teams travel to Lubbock to compete in the Jarvis Scott Open on Friday and Saturday at the Sports Performance Center hosted by Texas Tech University. The meet begins on Friday with the Field Events at 3 p.m. and will continue through Saturday.

The Rams and Rambelles have collected 25 provisional marks so far this season, with 17 for the Belles and eight for the Rams' team. Some athletes to watch for this weekend are as follows:

  • Maricia Spence has tallied four top 10 marks in all of Division II, ranking third in the pentathlon (4,112), seventh in the 60-meter hurdles (8.52), eighth in the long jump (6.01m | 19'-8.75"), and is a part of the 4x400-meter relay team that ranks third with a time of 3:43.31.
  • Jacent Nyamahunge was named the Lone Star Conference women's track athlete of the week, ranking sixth in the country in the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.11, which led the conference.
  • Findley and Kabo are fifth and sixth in Division II, respectively, in the 400-meter dash with times of 54.46 and 54.51.
  • Ranking fourth in Division II in the men's pole vault is Jacobee Jones, who vaulted 5.25m (17'-2.75").
  • Josh Body leads the conference in the men's triple jump at 15.13m (49'-7.75").
  • The Rams also lead the LSC in the weight throw with Cole Paxton at 14.36m (47'-1.5") and in the 4x400-meter relay with the team of Prince Frimpong, Max Wassmer, Bossman Pinkrah, and Tristan Guerrero holding a time of 3:13.73.
