WALL, TX — A member of the Wall Hawks’ football team decided he’s staying home for college ball. Logan Thomas, a linebacker and one of the players COVER1 dubbed part of the “Four Horsemen” out at Wall, signed with Angelo State University to continue his football career.
Friends, Family, Coaches, and others gathered at Wall High School on Wednesday, February 7, to celebrate Thomas as he signed his letter of intent with the Rams. The young man joins a talented roster and a perennial national title contender next season.
San Angelo LIVE!’s Ryan Chadwick caught up with Logan Thomas just before the signing to ask what the day meant to him and his family. Watch the full interview below:
Thomas touched on why he chose Angelo State and what that meant to him as a player.
“It’s right down the road, Thomas said. “I have this whole community backing me, including my family. I just couldn’t see myself leaving. So, Angelo State being right here is the perfect choice for me.”
Thomas was one heck of a player during his tenure in a Hawks jersey. He finished 3rd this season in total tackles (103) while leading Wall in tackles for loss (26) and Sacks (8). He also had three fumble recoveries and one pick. He won District MVP for Division II District 2-3A this season and was one of the leaders at Wall. Angelo State picked up a great player and an even better young man with this signing.
It is unknown what position Thomas will ultimately play at Angelo State in the future. He played offensive linemen, defensive end, and linebacker for the Hawks, but with his size, Thomas would be a welcome addition to the Rams’ linebacker core.
