SAN ANGELO, TX — UIL District realignment for high school football dropped on Thursday, February 1. Several changes were made this offseason, and many teams in the Concho Valley now have a new set of opponents they will compete against next season. Here is the comprehensive list of changes (or lack thereof) to the Concho Valley High School Football scope for the 2024 season.
1A Division I
District 8

- Water Valley

Water Valley is back in 6-man football after playing in 11-man for the past couple of seasons. The Irion County Hornets will always be tough to beat, and it is interesting to see what direction the Wildcats go from here.
District 15
- Barksdale Nueces Canyon
- Eden
- Leakey
- Medina
- Menard
2A Division I
District 3
- Reagan County
- Christoval
- Colorado City
- Forsan
- Ozona
- Sonora
District 5
- Ballinger
- Bangs
- Coleman
- De Leon
- Hamilton
- Hico
The Ballinger Bearcats dropped down divisions in this realignment. The Bearcats struggled in the old district with opponents like Wall, Early, and TLCA San Angelo. This opportunity will allow these athletes to compete for a potential district championship.
District 14
- Harper
- Holland
- Johnson City LBJ
- Mason
- San Saba
- Thorndale
2A Division II
District 4
- Eldorado
- Iraan
- McCamey
- Sterling City
- Van Horn
- Wink
With Water Valley’s exit, Van Horn joins the ranks in this district next season.
District 7
- Albany
- Miles
- Roscoe Collegiate
- Winters
- Cross Plains
- Hamlin

Miles Bulldogs fell to Collinsville Pirates during the 2nd round of the 2023 Texas High School Football Playoffs.
The Miles Bulldogs add Cross Plains and Winters as district opponents next season. The Bulldogs will compete in this district moving forward but still have to deal with the Albany Lions.
3A Division I
District 3
- Breckenridge
- Clyde
- Comanche
- San Angelo TLCA
- Sweetwater
- Tuscola Jim Ned
TLCA moves up divisions next season and enters the meat grinder. Comanche, Sweetwater, and Jim Ned are all powerhouse schools with great coaches. The Eagles will have to adapt quickly if they want to compete for a potential championship or even a playoff spot.
3A Division II
District 4
- Coahoma
- Merkel
- Odessa Compass Academy
- Grape Creek
- Stanton
- Wall

The Wall Hawks and Grape Creek Eagles incorporate some new and familiar faces moving forward. Merkel and Coahoma were already part of the old district in basketball in previous seasons. Adding Stanton and Odessa Compass will make things more interesting, but this is still Wall’s district to lose. The absence of Coach Houston Guy from the Hawks may be a factor moving forward.
District 5
- Brady
- Clifton
- Dublin
- Early
- Eastland
- Tolar
The Brady Bulldogs move to a completely new district next season. Only the Early Longhorns stay with Brady in the new District 5-3A. Joining the Longhorns and Bulldogs is state runner-up Tolar. These schools will have their hands full next season.
4A Division I
District 3
- Andrews
- Big Spring
- Pecos
- San Angelo Lake View

With Lubbock Estacado and Brownwood’s exit, the Chiefs are back in a four-team district. Pecos joins the ranks, and Lake View now has the opportunity to make strides for a district championship. The best news out of this is that Lake View now has an automatic playoff bid moving forward.
