BOSTON, MA – Angelo State University head men’s basketball coach Vinay Patel has been named the HoopDirt.Com Division II National Coach of the Week.
Patel's outstanding leadership last week was highlighted by the Rams' impressive performances in the wins against St. Mary's and St. Edward's in San Angelo. In the matchup against the Rattlers, the Rams shot 58.7 percent from the field and 56.7 percent from three, which resulted in 111 points— the highest against a Division II program since 2015.
In the game against the Hilltoppers, Patel guided the Rams to a 69-64 victory when Angelo State hit five crucial free throws in the final two minutes to seal the win over St. Edward’s.
The Rams currently sport a 14-5 overall record and 9-4 in Lone Star Conference (LSC) play. Most impressively, the Rams maintain an impeccable 21-0 record inside the Junell Center – Stephens Arena.
Looking ahead, the Rams hit the road this weekend to face Eastern New Mexico and Western New Mexico on Thursday and Saturday, respectively. Congratulations Coach Patel.
