SAN ANGELO, TX — The Lake View Chiefs hosted a district matchup on Friday night against the Sweetwater Mustangs at Lake View High School. Lake View overcame a 20-point deficit in the first half to make it a game late in the contest but ultimately fell to the Mustangs, 73-66.
Lake View and Sweetwater traded scores throughout the first quarter, and the Chiefs trailed 18-13 after one. In the second, the Mustangs exploded from the 3-point line to build up to a 20-point lead with five minutes left in the half. However, Lake View stayed resilient and narrowed the lead back to six points heading into halftime.
Sweetwater proved too much in the third with another 20-point quarter. The Chiefs managed to battle back in the fourth but could not catch up. Lake View fell 73-66.
Sophomore Point Guard Braylon White led the Chiefs with 22 points, followed by Joseph Martinez with 16. These Chiefs are close to the tipping point in many of these district games this season. Watch out as some of these younger players continue to develop.
The Chiefs return to action on Tuesday, January 30, when they host Lubbock Estacado at Lake View High School in San Angelo. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
