Angelo State Belles Dominate Another 2nd Half to Beat WT

CANYON, TX — The Angelo State Rambelles traveled to Canyon on Thursday to play a Lone Star Conference matchup against West Texas A&M. The Belles hadn’t beaten the Lady Buffs in Canyon since 2019, but an incredible performance from Sawyer Lloyd lifted Angelo State over WT 70-58.

The ladies began the contest slow, scoring only five points in the first three and a half minutes. However, Lloyd soon turned her game up to hit a jumper to bring the Rambelles within eight points of the Lady Buffs at the end of the 1st quarter.

Angelo State began the 2nd on a 10-5 run, cutting the Lady Buff’s lead to two points, 22-20, with less than six minutes to play in the half. Keniah Williams made a layup with 3:23 remaining to give Angelo State the lead. The Belles led 36-30 at the break.

Lloyd took over in the 3rd quarter when she scored the first six points after halftime. The other ladies picked their game up and dominated on both ends of the floor. Angelo State led 55-41 at the end of the 3rd.
