SAN ANGELO, TX — Coming off a massive district win last weekend over the Frenship Lady Tigers, Makenna McMillan, Nevaeh Hearne, and Ana Weirzowiecki turned in another set of solid performances to lift the Central Lady Cats over the Midland Legacy Lady Rebels, 54-36.
The San Angelo Central Lady Cats hosted a district matchup on Tuesday night, January 9, against the Midland Legacy Lady Rebels at Central High School. The ladies started strong in the first half, with suffocating defense propelling Central to an early lead. Makenna McMillan took over the 2nd quarter with nine points. Alexis Long hit a three with less than five seconds remaining to give the Lady Cats a 25-15 lead at the break.
Central continued to play well throughout the 2nd half despite missing several shots at the line. Lockdown defense allowed the ladies to put up several fast-break points to maintain a healthy advantage. Ana Weirzowiecki was a terror in the paint, and Nevaeh Hearne drove the lane to draw contact on multiple occasions. When the final buzzer sounded, the Lady Cats moved to 2-0 in district play with a commanding 54-36 win.
Head Coach Arsenior Geter gave his thoughts on the ladies’ performance after the game. Watch the interview below:
