BALLINGER, TX — The Wall Hawks and No. 9 Lady Hawks traveled to Ballinger on Friday, January 5, for a district matchup against the Ballinger Bearcats and Lady Bearcats. Wall dominated on defense in both games while scoring regularly to snag two big district wins on the road.
NO. 9 LADY HAWKS VS LADY BEARCATS
The Lady Bearcats always play well when Wall comes to town, and Friday was the same to start the game. Neither team gave ground in 1st quarter as the two scored 12 points apiece to remain tied after the first frame. Ballinger's Taegan King scored eight points in the first half to keep the game close. Wall gained a slight advantage thanks to a monster quarter from Brylyn Watts. Watts put up nine points in the 2nd quarter to give Wall a 27-26 lead headed into halftime.
Wall stopped playing around in the 2nd half. The Lady Hawks put up 47 points in the 2nd half to entirely run away from the Lady Bearcats. Brylyn Watts continued to dominate with another 16 points in the 3rd quarter. The Lady Hawks' sophomore guard Kennedi Graves took over in the 4th quarter as she scored 13 points to end the game. Wall downed the Lady Bearcats 74-46.
Brylyn Watts led the Lady Hawks with 25 points. Teagan King led the Lady Bearcats with 22 points.
The Lady Hawks move to 12-6 overall and 4-1 in district play. Wall hosts the Coahoma Lady Bulldogs next Tuesday, January 9. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m. Ballinger travels to San Angelo next Tuesday to play the TLCA Lady Eagles. Game time is set for 6:15 p.m.
WALL HAWKS VS BALLINGER BEARCATS
The Hawks followed up the Lady Hawks' raucous performance with a dominant showing on both ends of the floor. The basketball always seemed to roll the Hawks' way on offense or defense. Wall exploded in the 1st quarter with 21 points. Ballinger struggled for every basket and only managed eight in the first frame. They played better on offense in the 2nd quarter, but turnovers continued to be a problem for Ballinger. The Bearcats put up 11 points to the Hawks' 22. Wall led 43-19 at the half.
Wall's Lane Stansberry began the 2nd half with a basket and a block. That set the tone for the rest of the game. The Hawks' Augden Hallmark proved unstoppable on the evening as he either led or tied the other Hawks in points each quarter. Wall put up another 39 points in the 2nd half to defeat the Bearcats 82-29.

Wall returns home for a pivotal district matchup against the Coahoma Bulldogs next Tuesday. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Ballinger's road gets even tougher next Tuesday when they travel to the No. 17 TLCA Eagles in San Angelo. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m.
