MIAMI, FLA — The cause of the blaze that engulfed Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill was released on Thursday. After firefighters responded to a blaze at Hill’s residence in Southwest Ranches, South Florida, an investigation occurred to determine what happened on Wednesday afternoon.
When firefighters arrived on the scene, heavy black smoke could be seen coming out of the residence. All family members who lived there were outside, and no injuries were apparent. It took firefighters approximately 45 minutes to put out the blaze.

Investigators determined that a child playing with a cigarette lighter was the cause of the blaze. The fire left a hole in the home's roof with smoke and water damage inside. Tyreek Hill was at the Dolphins’ Wednesday afternoon practice at the time of the fire and left when he received the news.
Tyreek Hill’s agent, Drew Rosenhaus, said that Hill expects to play in the Dolphins’ regular-season finale against the Buffalo Bills on Sunday night, January 7. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:20 p.m.
