  • Thursday, January 4: Western New Mexico - 5:30 p.m. - Stephens Arena at the Junell Center
  • Saturday, January 6: Eastern New Mexico - 1 p.m. - Stephens Arena at the Junell Center

The Rambelles had a rocky start to the season with a tough schedule that forced these ladies to struggle and grow early. Improvement is already showing as the Rambelles had a successful trip to Hawaii over Christmas break. Angelo State defeated Bridgewater State 88-79 and Hawaii-Hilo 69-62 at the Big Island Holiday Classic and is geared up and ready for the arduous LSC Conference slate.

Tayjanna McGhee-Pleasant and Sawyer Lloyd lead the Rambelles in scoring so far this season. The ladies average 16.6 and 16.2 points per game, ranking fourth and sixth in the LSC, respectively.

Western New Mexico sports a 7-2 overall record this season and is 2-2 in conference play. Last year, the Rambelles defeated the Mustangs twice, 56-52 and 54-50.

Eastern New Mexico has struggled so far this season with a 4-6 overall record and currently sits at 0-4 in conference play. The Rambelles split with the Greyhounds in the two conference games last season.

No. 11 Angelo State Rams
  • Thursday, January 4: Western New Mexico - 7:30 p.m. - Stephens Arena at the Junell Center
  • Saturday, January 6: Eastern New Mexico - 3 p.m. - Stephens Arena at the Junell Center

The Rams rose to No. 11 in the National Rankings over Christmas break and currently ride a 9-game winning streak. The streak will be tested on Thursday when the Mustangs come to town. Kevon Godwin, Keyshawn Embery-Simpson, and Trey Farrer continue to develop into leaders on this Rams’ roster as Angelo State embarks on a conference title run.

Western New Mexico has a 3-6 record this season and is 1-3 in LSC play. The Mustangs allow 79.6 points per game and currently rank in the bottom three in the LSC. Angelo State should excel on offense in this matchup. Angelo State won both matchups against Western New Mexico last season and is 12-4 against the Mustangs all-time.

Eastern New Mexico is an entirely different animal. The Greyhounds are 8-2 on the season and, like the Rams, are undefeated in LSC play (4-0). They average over 90 points per game and have several gifted scorers that Angelo State will have to keep in check if the Rams want to win this contest. The Rams split with Eastern New Mexico last season in the two conference matchups and hold a slight 42-40 edge in the all-time series.
