Lady Cats Secure First Victory in 2024 Over Stephenville

 

SAN ANGELO, TX — The San Angelo Central Lady Cats’ basketball team played a non-district matchup against the Stephenville Honeybees on Tuesday afternoon at Central High School. The Lady Cats played excellent defense throughout the game and slowly pulled away from the Honeybees in the 4th quarter to secure victory, 45-38.

Central took the lead early thanks to a three-point shot from Makenna Mcmillan to give the Lady Cats a 12-8 advantage at the end of the 1st quarter. Central scored 17 points in the 2nd quarter and led at the half, 29-25. The Lady Cats cooled off in the second half, only scoring 16 points, but stepped their game up on defense. The Honeybees attempted a comeback but never crept within four points as the Lady Cats sealed the victory with some clutch free throws down the stretch and won 45-38.

Head Coach Arsenio Geter gave his thoughts on his team’s performance after the game, let’s take a look.

Makenna Mcmillan led the Lady Cats with 12 points, followed by Sydnee Moore with eight points. The Lady Cats open up district play on Friday, January 5, against the Frenship Lady Tigers in San Angelo. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m.
