ARLINGTON, TX — After a Sunday Night Football clash between the Dallas Cowboys and the Philadelphia Eagles, there’s a new head honcho in the NFC East. The Cowboys put on a dominating performance against the rival Eagles and flattened the Birds 33-13.
Cowboys’ rookie kicker electrified the crowd early with a 60-yard field goal in one of four kicks Brandon Aubrey made on the evening. Dak Prescott continued to look like an MVP candidate with another strong performance where he threw zero interceptions. The Dallas quarterback finished the evening with 271 yards and two touchdowns.
The real story of this contest was an outstanding performance by the Dallas defense. The Eagles’ lone touchdown came from a Dak Prescott fumble in the 3rd quarter. The Cowboys allowed only two field goals while they compiled three takeaways and locked down Jalen Hurts and AJ Brown.
The Cowboys led from start to finish in this contest and dominated every facet of the game. Tony Pollard led the rushing attack with 59 yards on a tough 16 carries. Tight End Jake Ferguson led the Dallas pass-catchers with five catches for 72 yards. CeeDee Lamb trailed close behind with six catches for 71 yards and one touchdown.
The Cowboys improved to 10-3 on the season and into first place in the NFC East. They currently hold the No. 2 seed in the NFC playoff picture behind the 10-3 San Francisco 49ers. The Eagles (10-3) may have the same record as the Cowboys, but if the season ended today, Philadelphia would settle for the Wild Card spot.
Dallas returns to action next Sunday, December 17, against the Buffalo Bills in Buffalo. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:25 p.m.
