Major Local Changes in UIL High School Football Realignment

SAN ANGELO, TX— The University Interscholastic League has released the official cutoff numbers for the 2024-2025 and the 2025-2026 Reclassification and Realignment. San Angelo TLCA is on the move up and Ballinger, along with Water Valley could be moving down.

Every two years, the UIL realigns the high school football based on enrollment numbers. Now, we officially have the numbers that will determine where each school is playing and if they moved up or down a classification.

  • 1A-D2 – 61.4 or below
  • 1A-D1 – 61.5 – 104.9
  • 2A-D2 – 105 – 181.4
  • 2A-D1 – 181.5 – 253
  • 3A-D2 – 254 – 368
  • 3A-D1 – 389 – 544
  • 4A-D2 – 545 – 956
  • 4A-D1 – 957 – 1314
  • 5A-D2 – 1315 – 1902
  • 5A-D1 – 1903 – 2274
  • 6A – 2275 and above

Some schools in the Concho Valley will be affected by this as their districts will shift. Schools send in snapshot numbers of what their enrollment looks like and realign and/or reclassify.

  • San Angelo Central – 3018
  • Lake View – 1067
  • San Angelo TLCA - 408
  • Wall – 343

Based off these numbers, San Angelo Central will remain a 6A school. The Bearcats could be dropping down to 2A-D1 but also could opt up to 3A ball.

Water Valley could be on the move as well to back to six-man football and Paint Rock, who was in 1A-D2 this realignment will be moving up to 1A-D1 with half a student putting them over the number.
