SAN ANGELO, TX — The College Baseball Foundation recently announced that Angelo State Head Baseball Coach Kevin Brooks is the 2023 Skip Bertman Coach of the Year. Brooks led the Rams since their inaugural season in 2005 and won the National Championship in 2023 for the first time in program history.

“Under Brooks’ leadership, the Rams finished the 2023 season with a 56-9 overall record, setting the program and Lone Star Conference record for wins in a season on their way to a Division II National Championship title,” the College Baseball Foundation said in a release.

Brooks led the Rams to 10 trips to the NCAA postseason so far in his career with Angelo State, and the Rams have never had a losing season under the legendary coach. As the only coach in program history, Brooks has an overall record of 742-333 since 2005.

“The Skip Bertman Coach of the Year award is named for legendary Louisiana State head coach and College Baseball Hall-of-Famer Skip Bertman, who coached the Tigers from 1984 to 2001,” the College Baseball Foundation said.
