CHARLOTTE, NC— The Carolina Panthers have moved on from their head coach after a dismal start to the season.
The Carolina Panthers have fired head coach Frank Reich after started the 2023 NFL season 1-10. Reich’s removal comes 24 hours after Panther’s owner David Tepper left the locker room uttering one word under his breath, “F**k”.
This is the second season straight where the Panthers have fired their head coach midseason after firing Matt Rhule five games into the 2022 season.
Carolina had the number one pick in the 2023 NFL Draft and used the pick on Alabama quarterback Bryce Young, who has looked like a rookie. The Panthers did trade away their number one receiving weapon during the offseason when they moved wideout DJ Moore to the Chicago Bears. Carolina also moved all-star running back Christian McCaffery to the San Francisco 49ers and, from the same draft, Curtis Samuel has found a new home with the Washington Commanders.
So, while the Panthers have moved on from two head coaches in two seasons, they haven’t done the best job to hold onto talented players.
This is the second head coaching job Reich has been fired from midseason after getting canned from Indianapolis in 2022.
