Dallas Cowboys Cornerback Sets NFL Record

ARLINGTON, TX— A Dallas Cowboys second year cornerback has made history.

Second year cornerback Daron Bland has made NFL history by taking five interceptions back for touchdowns. Not only did Bland reset and NFL record, but he did so in only 11 games and still have six games to extend his record.

Bland has five pick sixes and is now ahead of such players as Eric Allen, Jim Kearney, and Ken Houston, who all have four.

Bland was a fifth-round pick, 167 overall, out of Fresno State in the 2022 NFL Draft and has 12 interceptions in his career so far. He was the 23rd cornerback drafted and those taken ahead of him were:

For comparison, the 2022 Defensive Rookie of the Year, the New York Jet's Sauce Gardner, has two interceptions in his career. Gardner was also the fourth overall pick.

Bland’s record-breaking pick six came in a huge 45-10 win over the Washington Commanders on Thanksgiving Day. His play has defiantly earned him consideration for Defensive Player of the Year. He and Stephon Gilmore form a dangerous duo in the Cowboys' secondary that will only get scarier when Trevon Diggs returns from his ACL injury.
