ROSCOE, TX — The TLCA San Angelo Eagles hit the road to Roscoe for their Bi-District Playoff matchup with the Crane Golden Cranes on Friday, November 10. TLCA never meshed well on offense in this matchup, and Crane took full advantage. Penalties in the 2nd half let the Golden Cranes run away with this one, 56-0.
1st Half
TLCA hit explosive plays more than once in the first half. In fact, on the Eagles’ first possession, a double pass lit up Crane’s defense for 45+ yards. However, the Eagles could not match that same success, and the drive stalled. Crane took over and went on a march. The Golden Cranes slowly but surely drove the ball down the field six to seven yards at a time to get into the end zone first.
After another TLCA punt, Crane went to work again. In what would become a theme of the evening, Crane pounded the rock inside all the way down the field. After another touchdown, the Golden Eagles led 14-0 headed to the 2nd quarter.
TLCA made an unfortunate mistake with just over six minutes left to play in the first half. Honea rolled to his left and threw a pass to one of his receivers. Unfortunately for the Eagles, a Golden Eagle linebacker was waiting in the wings and picked Honea off. Crane returned the pick for a touchdown.
Crane scored one more time before the half and led at the break, 28-0.
2nd Half
TLCA received the 2nd half kickoff and failed to produce. After a punt, the Eagles stepped on defense and claimed their first takeaway of the contest when a fumble in the backfield ended up in the arms of one of the Eagles.
TLCA then drove the ball into Crane territory. Just outside the Golden Eagles’ 35-yard line, the offense stalled again. A sack, a holding call, and a false start left TLCA with a 4th down and 30. Crane burst through the defense and blocked the punt on 4th down. Those events led to another quick touchdown. Crane led 35-0 midway through the 3rd quarter.
The Eagles never seemed to get in sync throughout the second half and never managed to score. Crane added two more touchdowns and won the one, 49-0.
