WALL, TX — Breaking news out of Wall, TX, that has major playoff implications for the Hawks’ football team moving forward. Reports came out earlier on Thursday, November 2, that said that Wall’s first-round playoff matchup against the Tornillo Coyotes had been canceled. As of 5 p.m. on Thursday, not only is the Bi-District matchup back on, but the Hawks now have a home playoff game.
San Angelo LIVE! spoke to Wall Hawks Head Coach Houston Guy late this afternoon, and in an official statement, he said that the playoff game against Tornillo will be played in Wall on November 10, at Hawk Stadium at 6 p.m.
“We are back on as of this afternoon,” Guy said. “Tonillo will come here to play at 6 p.m. next Friday.”
After speaking with Tonillo’s athletic director, Guy said Tornillo was cleared to proceed with the playoffs. A lack of players on the roster was the original reason for the cancellation, but as of this afternoon, the Coyotes should be ready to go next Friday.
The Hawks and Coyotes still have one more game to play before the playoffs begin next week. Wall has a matchup with Brady in Wall on Friday. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. If the Hawks beat Brady tomorrow, Wall will win another outright District 2-3A Division II championship.
