Angelo State Rams Return Home Against Midwestern State Saturday

 

SAN ANGELO, TX — The Angelo State Rams return home on Saturday, November 4, to host the Midwestern State Mustangs for a Lone Star Conference matchup at LeGrand Stadium at 1st Community Credit Union Field.

ASU currently sits at 4-2 in conference play and needs to win out the rest of the season for a chance at a playoff spot. The Rams might need help from other teams in the conference to take down Central Washington and UTPB, but they can do their part by winning on Saturday.

The Rams are 9-16 all-time against the Mustangs, but as of late, the Rams continue to gain ground. Last season, Angelo State won the matchup 37-19.

At his weekly press conference, Head Coach of the Rams, Jeff Girsch, gave his thoughts about the win over WT and what he expects from Midwestern State this weekend. Watch the press conference below:

SCOUTING REPORT:

  • The Mustangs hold a 4-4 overall record heading into Saturday's game, going 3-3 in conference play.
  • MSU is riding a two-game win streak, defeating Western Oregon 33-6 and Western New Mexico 56-7.
  • Allowing only 19 points per game, the Mustangs hold the second-best scoring defense in the LSC.
  • MSU is allowing 302 yards per game, which ranks fourth in the LSC, while offensively, the Mustangs are averaging 305 yards, which ranks seventh.
  • The Mustangs are the second-best rushing team in the conference, averaging 224.3 yards on the ground.
  • Jalen March is the second-leading rusher in the LSC, averaging 87.1 yards per game, while Devin Cross holds the fourth-best rushing average at 80 yards per game.
