Rangers and D-Backs Set to Square Off in World Series Game 1

 

ARLINGTON, TX — The stage is set for the Texas Rangers and the Arizona Diamondbacks to square off for a World Series Title. The Rangers will host Arizona for Game 1 of the World Series in Arlington on Friday, October 27, at Globe Life Field. First pitch is scheduled for 7:03 p.m. Here's what you need to know.

  • This year’s World Series features two teams seeded at the bottom of the MLB Playoffs. Neither team won their respective divisions, and both teams had to beat multiple higher-seeded opponents to make it this far.

While these two teams are in the championship series in 2023, they combined for a grand total of 182 losses a season ago. The Rangers hired retired and long-time San Francisco Giants manager Bruce Bochy to turn the franchise around. Bochy did just that, and now the Rangers find themselves back in the World Series for the first time since 2011 and on the cusp of a championship.

Who's on the Mound in Game 1?

  • Nathan Eovaldi will take the mound for the Rangers in Game 1, while Zac Gallen will go for Arizona. Eovaldi is 4-0 in the postseason with a 2.42 ERA and 28 strikeouts. Gallen is 2-2 in the playoffs and sports a 5.24 ERA with 13 strikeouts.
  • Former President George W. Bush will throw out the first pitch in Game 1.
