Angelo State Ready for Matchup Against WT

 

SAN ANGELO, TX — The Angelo State Rams hit the road on Saturday, October 28, for a Lone Star Conference matchup against the West Texas A&M Buffalos. After losing a hard-fought matchup where the Rams led most of the way to UTPB last weekend, 28-23, the Rams now find themselves on the outside looking in for a potential playoff matchup.

WHEN AND WHERE:

The Rams battle the Buffs in Canyon on Saturday, October 28, at Bain Schaeffer Buffalo Stadium at 6 p.m.

SERIES HISTORY:

  • All-Time Series: 20-16, ASU
  • Last Meeting: Sept. 24, 2022: 34-14, ASU
  • The Rams hold a slight edge in the all-time series against the Buffs, winning 20 of the 36 meetings. The teams have split the last four meetings, each winning two games at home. The last time the Rams won in Canyon was during the 2019 season, winning 17-14.

SCOUTING REPORT:

  • The Buffs enter the weekend with a 4-3 overall record, going 2-4 in conference play.
  • WT has lost three conference games by seven points or less, including a 41-40 overtime loss to UTPB.
  • The Buffs are 1-4 in their last five games, earning a 49-27 win over Western New Mexico.
  • WT holds the fourth-best scoring offense in the LSC, averaging 27.1 points while collecting 303.1 yards per game.
  • The Buffs rank seventh in the conference in yards allowed, giving up an average of 343.3.
  • Linebacker JT Cavender leads the conference in tackles with 81 on the season.
