Paint Rock State Champ Wins Lubbock Invitational

 

LUBBOCK, TX — Paint Rock High School track and field standout Austin Magness won the 1A Division in the Lubbock Invitational Cross Country meet on Saturday, September 23. Magness continues to add to his long list of accomplishments as he took home the victory in a race with 90 athletes competing.

The 2023 1A 3200-meter State Champion finished Saturday’s race at 17:40.7. He finished first overall with second place, nine seconds slower at 17:49.2. Magness averaged a 5:41 per mile pace. Paint Rock ISD congratulated Magness on its Facebook page on Saturday.

“Congrats to Austin Magness,” Paint Rock ISD said. “[Magness] won the 1A Division of the Lubbock Invitational Cross Country meet today!”

The Paint Rock Cross Country team next competes in the Cornerstone Cross Country Meet in San Angelo on Saturday, September 30.
