Carpet Tech COVER1 Player of the Week: Week 4

 

SAN ANGELO— Week 4 of the Texas High School Football Season is here and Carpet Tech and COVER1 has the Player of the Week.

The Player of the Week for Week 4 is Reagan County Owls’ quarterback Kason Brown. Brown was instrumental and vital to the Owl’s game plan, going 23/37 for 282 yards, three touchdowns, and tossing two interceptions. Brown ran the ball 15 times for 93 yards and two scores and caught a pass from his brother, Jarrett Brown, for a three-yard touchdown.

Yes, that is a high school player from the Concho Valley that passed, rushed, and caught touchdowns in his most recent game. Reagan County went on to beat the Crane Cranes 42-40.

Brown wasn’t the only player in the Concho Valley to elevate his team.

TLCA San Angelo Eagle quarterback Layne Honea, despite all the drama, completed 16 passes on 23 attempts for 350 yards and five touchdowns in a huge win over the Winters Blizzards 62-35.

Irion County’s Wyatt Morris ran the ball 15 times for 235 yards and three touchdowns. Fellow Hornets Colton Lawdermilk and Parker Posey combined for 31 tackles, three quarterback pressures, two fumble recoveries, and one forced fumble.

The Wall Hawks had a hard-fought battle against the Jim Ned Indians and defensive back Ryan Allen kept the Hawks in the game when he scooped up a fumble and ran it back 100 yards for a touchdown. He also had an interception in the endzone that could have been a big play the other way.

Sonora’s running back Edgar DeLuna had himself another solid game, rushing 20 times for 300 yards, three touchdowns, 10 tackles, 3 tackles for loss, and a sack against the Eldorado Eagles. Eagles’ linebacker Tony Kmeic had 12 tackles, one for loss, one sack, and one fumble recovery.

Veribest’s Bryce Martin connected on five passes for 141 yard and two touchdowns. He also rushed four times for 66 yards and one touchdown as well.

Ozona’s Michael Daniels made his presence felt on defense with a team high 19 tackles and one forced fumble against Mason.

Miles’s quarterback went 14-18 for 219 yards for two touchdowns through the air and 13 rushes for 90 yards and two scores on the ground. Bulldog receiver Cooper Ellison caught nine passes for 139 yards and one score.

Brady’s running back Zeke Jones had one passing attempt go for a touchdown and four catches for 85 yards. He stood up on defense 13 tackles and two of those for loss.
