GOLDEN, CO — On Thursday, September 7, the Angelo State Rambelles Soccer team took on the No. 7 Colorado School of Mines. After being held to only three shots, the Angelo State women's soccer team dropped their first contest of 2023, losing in Golden, 4-0, to Colorado School of Mines.
In the first half, the Rambelles backline was being pressured all half long until a foul in the box sent Ava Harman to the penalty spot for a shot to put Mines on the board in the 42nd minute. Ava Harman settled it in the bottom right corner to give the Orediggers a 1-0 lead going into halftime.
The Orediggers came out the halftime break still pressuring the Belles backline, as Reese McDermott hit one from just inside the box to give the Colorado School of Mines a 2-0 advantage in the 48th minute.
In the 74th minute, the Orediggers got the third goal of the game when Cloey Seltzer scored on a free kick from just outside the box.
In the 77th minute, Mines scored the 4th goal of the game on a breakaway by Ellise Putnam to put it out of reach for the Rambelles. The Orediggers outshot the Rambelles 32 to three with 14 shots on target compared to the Belles one.
The Belles' next matchup is on the road with MSU Denver, kickoff set for 1 p.m. (CST) on Saturday, Sept. 9th. MSU Denver is Currently 0-1-2 on the season and is coming off a 4-0 defeat after falling to Dallas Baptist at home.
From Head Coach Travis McCorkle: "It is not the performance that we were wanting, or one that we expect to continue. There are things that need to be shored up by our next game against MSU Denver. I expect a response on Saturday."
