Yesterday, the Cowboys traded former 2021 second-round pick, cornerback Kelvin Joseph, to the Miami Dolphins for their former first-round pick Noah Igbinghene. Like Dallas, the Dolphins have a ton of talent on the backend of their defense in corners Xavien Howard and Jalen Ramsey where Dallas has Trevon Diggs and Stephon Gilmore. A change of scenery could do these two young defensive backs some good.

It was a rough day for the Cowboys 2021 draft picks. Out of that draft came Micah Parsons but after yesterday, Parsons, Odighizuwa, Golston, Wright, Mukuamu, and an injured Josh Ball are left on the team.

What does the initial roster say about the team?

At quarterback, Prescott is the guy until further notice and Cooper Rush, who played well when Prescott went down last season with an injury, is his backup. Trey Lance will sit and learn behind those two.

It shouldn’t be a surprise that Deuce Vaughn and Hunter Luepke made the team. The late round pick and undrafted fullback played well in the preseason. Vaughn will be a joy to watch, and Luepke is a Swiss army knife of a player. Dallas like what Luepke can do so much that they moved on from Sean McKeon who was the fourth tight end last season.

Every draft pick from the 2023 NFL Draft made the team and the Cowboys like what the youth showed them during training camp.

The Dallas Cowboys start their quest for a Super Bowl victory on September 10, 2023 with the first regular season game against the New York Giants.
