No Deal for Colts Jonathan Taylor, RB to Miss First Four Games

INDIANAPOLIS, IN — Breaking news out of the Indianapolis Colts organization on Tuesday, August 29. After giving All-Pro running back Jonathan Taylor permission to seek out a trade last week, Indianapolis said on Tuesday that it did not find what it felt like was a “fair trade offer” for the embattled running back. As the news currently stands, Jonathan Taylor will not be traded.

Adam Schefter reported the news on his X account on Tuesday afternoon.

“With no trade materializing today, Taylor now is expected to remain on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) List, making him ineligible to play the first four games of the season,” Schefter said. “Taylor now is expected to miss games versus the Jaguars, at Houston, at Baltimore, and versus the Rams.”

Bad news for fantasy football owners who already held their annual drafts. Taylor currently is a late second-round pick in most fantasy football leagues, but with the news of him sitting out the first four games, that value is expected to fall.

Last season, Taylor followed up an All-Pro level year with mediocre numbers as injuries hamstrung the running back for most of the season. Taylor finished the year with 861 yards on 192 carries with four touchdowns. His 4.5 yards per carry average fell from 5.5 in 2021. The Colts refused contract negotiations with Taylor this offseason, ultimately leading to the running back wanting out of Indianapolis.
