MOORESVILLE, NC — Tennessee Titans Cornerback Caleb Farley addressed the North Carolina home explosion that killed his father and left another injured on Tuesday, August 22. Director of Fire Services and Emergency Management for Iredell Kent Greene said the explosion occurred overnight in Mooresville, NC. Greene said one person who was seen exiting the home as emergency personnel arrived on the scene suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transferred to a hospital.
Farley shared multiple pictures and videos on his Instagram Stories of his father on Wednesday.
"Daddy you a legend. I love you 4L," he wrote in one of his stories. "You wasn’t suppose to go out like this pop," he added in another post.
According to Queenscity News, Farley was spotted on the scene of the explosion on Tuesday, speaking with officials about the incident. Family members said that the deceased was Farley’s father. The injured person who was transferred to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries was not immediately identified.
"A loud boom, about five minutes to midnight," a neighbor told Queen City News. "A gorgeous house, in all respects. I can’t believe it."
Neighbors reported hearing a “loud explosion” and smelled gas when the incident occurred. Farely is originally from Maiden, NC, about 25 miles west of Mooresville. The cornerback played for Virginia Tech in college before Tennessee selected him in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft. The Dallas Cowboys selected Micah Parsons that same year.
The Tennessee Titans play their final preseason game in Nashville against the New England Patriots on Friday, August 25, at 7:15 p.m.
