Cowboys Defensive End Arrested on Gun & Drug Charges

FRISCO, TX — An up-and-coming defensive end for the Dallas Cowboys has been arrested on serious charges.

Second-year defensive end Sam Williams was arrested in Frisco, Texas, on Sunday for unlawful possession of a firearm and possession of a controlled substance. After several updates, it was discovered that Williams was in possession of one gram of THC.

This also is not Williams's first time being in trouble. During his rookie season, Williams crashed his vehicle and was charged with reckless driving. It was discovered that he was driving 100 mph in a 55 mph zone and was weaving in and out of traffic.

Williams is a second-round draft pick from the 2022 NFL Draft who had a pretty successful rush rate last season. In 2022, Williams had four sacks, one forced fumble, and three fumble recoveries in a small amount of playing time.

The Cowboys hoped to have a strong rotation at defensive end with Williams, Micah Parsons, DeMarcus Lawrence, and Dorrance Armstrong. Now, Williams has set himself up for a suspension before his second year even begins. Under the NFL’s personal conduct policy, Williams could sit for a time while incurring a fine.

The Cowboys are set to take on the Las Vegas Raiders in their last preseason game on Saturday, August 26, 2023.
